Pretty exciting day today as it will be the first official day of the Festival with everyone arriving and reaping the rewards of our hard work during the week.
I did a double shift in the kitchen today with Claire, DJ, Mirry and others.
I caught up with Steve Tyson at lunch time which was good. Steve is playing a few times over the weekend and also wrote a great review of my Cd for "Trad N Now" Magazine and is a really good dude.
After our kitchen shift, Fred and I went back to Claire and Dj's camp for a beer and wind down from what has been a pretty busy but good week.
At night we just went around to the various stages checking out the bands that were playing. Apart from bands there were belly dancers, acrobats and all sorts of other entertainment on offer.

I also ran into Richard Perso who I hadn't seen for years and had a god chat to him and his Dad.
I'm really looking forward to the next few days, chilling out to the music and hanging out with my new mates.

It was pizza base time again today.
Some kids came in this morning to help out but they soon got sick of it and magically disappeared after an hour or so.
This left Col, Michael, Claire and myself to churn out the bases until lunch time.
After lunch we were joined by Paul, Nick, Matt and Shareen and rolled bases and had so many laughs all afternoon.
They're all really genuine people and I'm enjoying spending time with them and having a laugh.
Word is getting around about my performance on stage the other night and Col is saying I need to keep adjusting my cap as my head expands.
Nick has recently closed his family business after years of slaving away as a jeweller in Hervey Bay. It's funny the more people I talk to the more I'm realising that I'm not the only one giving away the 9 to 5 and searching for something a bit more meaningful out of life.

After dinner I went to Fred's camp for a a beer and to play some tunes. We were soon joined by some guys camping nearby who sat down for a listen too.
We then went over to the Lunar Stage to have a listen to another jam before heading back to camp for a well earned rest.

Today was a really great day.
I was up early to go into town with Luke and Chris to load up chairs and tables for the Festival.
Chris manages the band The Ploughboys so I was able to pick his brains on how he approaches venues and festivals both here and overseas to get gigs for the band.
After lunch I started to lend a hand making pizza bases for the pizzas that will be sold over the weekend. The target is for 1200 bases which seems like a lot.
I met Col who is the designated pizza dude at the festival and is a complete crack-up. Col, Claire and I spent the afternoon making bases and just laughing and joking the whole time.
After dinner we were back at it for another few hours and by the end we were all so delerious with tiredness and boredom from the monotony of the job that we were just giggling like little school girls. Very funny - especially when someone would roll out a base that wasn't a complete circle and looked more like a "map of Tassie" which Col had to explain to Claire as to what that actually is - haha!
We knocked off at about 9pm and Claire and I went over to the Lunar Stage where a jam was happening so the sound guys could sort out the PA before the festival starts.
I got up and did 3 songs which seemed to go over really well.

It was a really good day. Working hard, having heaps of laughs then finishing off by playing a few tunes and having people like it.
